"A Mega-energy center of the future connecting two oceans, elevating Thailand to a global base for producing green ammonia and clean hydrogen, with a capacity of 1.2 million tons per year, utilizing the Dynamic Ammonia Loop technology for ultimate stability of 24 hours to supply heavy industries and global shipping in the new era."
An island with an area of 800 rai, featuring a Tank Farm (NH3) of 200 rai, receiving stable, clean renewable energy and a reliable backup power system.
Project Information
- Project Name : Special Project: Green Ammonia & Clean Hydrogen Production Plant (Ranong Hub)
- Target Customers :
1. Government and state-owned power companies of "Japan and South Korea" (the largest and most demanding market)
2. Global energy companies and large-scale traders (Global Energy Traders)
3. Green Shipping Lines (International Shipping Lines)
4. Domestic Decarbonization (Domestic Heavy Chemical and Pharmaceutical Industries) - Reasoning and Rationale :
As the world faces the crisis of energy transition and geopolitical volatility in the Middle East, along with stringent international carbon tax measures, the demand for clean energy and new energy storage solutions is surging rapidly.
Golden Bridge International Holding (GBI Holding), as an international infrastructure developer connecting two oceans, recognizes that the coastal area of Ranong is the top strategic location with the readiness to receive electricity from renewable sources (solar and wind) and a clean energy CCPP with a capacity of 2,500 megawatts. Therefore, they have initiated the project to establish a mega-factory for producing green ammonia and clean hydrogen, aiming to create energy security, provide raw materials for future industries, and support global exports without relying on traditional shipping routes through vulnerable areas of the world.
Objectives :
1. To establish a modern and highly flexible global base for producing green ammonia (Green Ammonia) and clean hydrogen (Clean Hydrogen) in Thailand2. To support energy storage, twin storage systems, and the transportation of clean energy through the 98-kilometer strategic pipeline (Ranong-Chumphon)
3. To reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the industrial and energy sectors, aligning with global carbon neutrality goals
4. To attract direct foreign investment (FDI) from abroad, particularly from high-net-worth energy funds in the Middle East (GCC) and global big-tech partners
Key Targets :
Quantitative Goal : The factory will have a maximum capacity of 1,200,000 tons per year (approximately 3,500 tons per day) for producing green ammonia, and will be able to produce at least 600 tons per day of clean hydrogen.Qualitative Goal : The ammonia synthesis system must be environmentally friendly, with zero carbon emissions, and have high operational stability, meeting international Bankability standards for easy financing.
Key Requirements :
1. Hydrogen Production Technology : Utilizing high-efficiency electrolyzers (Alkaline / PEM Technology) with megawatt-scale capacity, powered by renewable energy and a stable load management system (Load Balance)2. Ammonia Synthesis Technology : Utilizing cutting-edge dynamic ammonia loop technology (similar to the NEOM project in Saudi Arabia) that offers flexibility in production capacity, allowing for rapid adjustments based on renewable energy fluctuations and the ability to quickly switch to clean hydrogen production if market demand for ammonia decreases significantly.
3. Safety and Storage Systems : Liquid ammonia storage tanks with low pressure and high temperature capabilities, equipped with advanced safety systems and connection points for the strategic pipeline and twin storage facilities on the Andaman Sea coast.
Location/Area :
- Location : Zone E = 800 Rai (Andaman Bay, Ranong) *(1 Rai = 1,600 Square Meters)*
- Area : 200 Rai of allocated land for factory construction, located in the Southern Economic Zone (SEC) along the Andaman Sea coast, Ranong Province, connecting to the strategic pipeline and logistics network linking two oceans.
Budget :
- Total Budget (Turnkey - EPC) : 73,500 Million Baht(THB) (Reference in Thai Baht)
Timeline :
Project Implementation Period: 4 Years
- Year 1-2 : Fast-track lease agreement, initial engineering design (FEED), and site preparation
- Year 3-4 : Construction, equipment installation, technology module assembly, and system testing (Commissioning) to commence actual production by the end of 2026/2027
Responsible Parties :
- Lead Project Developer : Golden Bridge International Holding (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (GBI Holding)
- International Technology Partners : Collaborative teams and experts holding global energy technology licenses (Technology Licensors) and international EPC specialists
Expected Outcomes :
1. Thailand will have the largest and most modern green energy factory in the Southeast Asia region, elevating the country's technological standing to a global level2. A complete clean energy network will be established, capable of generating substantial revenue through the export of green ammonia to global markets and attracting international investors to establish operations in the project area
3. Complete confidence will be built with GCC investment groups (such as the ADGM Fund) and major players that the GBI Holding project has a stable, secure, and commercially viable energy infrastructure
