"Smart Data Center and High-Speed Logistics Hub Connecting Cross-Ocean Energy Systems for 98 Kilometers"

Data Center Hub on the Northern Peninsula (500 Rai) receives stable electricity and cooling through pipelines from the power plant

Project Information

  • Project Name : Chumphon Smart Logistics Hub & Green Data Center Project
  • Clients :
    1. Global Big Tech & Hyperscalers
    2. Global Shipping Lines & Freight Forwarders
    3. International Telecom Carriers
    4. Energy and Industrial Businesses within the Landbridge Chumphon Area
  • Background & Rationale :
The expansion of cross-ocean energy transportation networks over a distance of 98 kilometers from Ranong to Chumphon has transformed the strategic center of Chumphon into a crucial hub for distributing goods and energy to the Asia-Pacific region. This is compounded by the current global crisis where the AI Infrastructure and high-level data processing industries are consuming electricity at rates up to 1,000 times higher than before, and requiring several million liters of clean water for cooling per year, as warned by the United Nations (UN)
GBI Holding has integrated logistics and digital technologies by establishing an intelligent logistics center to control product distribution and a green data center on the mainland in Chumphon. This innovative approach utilizes waste cold energy from the twin LNG/LH2 cryogenic storage facilities in Chumphon to directly cool server systems, addressing water and electricity scarcity issues. This aligns with the needs of multinational tech companies seeking net-zero carbon locations and maximum energy efficiency by 2026.

Objectives :
1. To construct and develop a large-scale green data center (Green Data Center) to support AI and Cloud Computing processing for global technology companies
2. To establish a smart logistics hub (Smart Logistics Hub) controlled by AI and automated systems for managing port operations, dual energy storage, and cargo transportation on the Gulf of Thailand side
3. To integrate high-speed fiber optic networks with the 98-kilometer pipeline to create seamless connectivity between the Ranong and Chumphon data systems

Key Targets :
1. Develop a high-density server rack area to support AI infrastructure : Focusing on providing server space and database services to global big tech companies (e.g., Microsoft, Google, AWS).
2. Install an intelligent cryogenic cooling system : Reducing electricity consumption in the cooling system by at least 50% and reducing the use of clean water for server cooling to zero (Zero-Water Consumed for Cooling).
3. Appoint a 100% automated warehouse and logistics management system : Using AI to calculate shipping routes, train schedules, and control the opening and closing of valves in four energy pipelines in real-time.

Key Requirements :
1. International Green Data Center Standards (LEED & Uptime Institute Tier III/IV Certified) : The building structure and backup power systems must have the highest stability (99.999% Availability) and use direct clean power from the 500MW hybrid power plant of the project
2. High-Level Data Security Standards (Cybersecurity & PDPA Compliance) : The system must have global-level cyber protection and comply with Thailand's personal data protection laws and international standards

Location/Area :
  • Location : Zone C = 3,300 Rai (Laem Riw, Chumphon) *(1 Rai = 1,600 Square Meters)*
  • Area : Allocated land area of 200 rai within the energy industrial estate and strategic reserve area of the Chumphon center (mainland side of the Gulf of Thailand) for creating a high-performance data center, a central logistics control building (Command Center), and a cryogenic energy conversion station

Budget :
  • Total Budget (Turnkey/EPC) : 14,400 Million Baht(THB) (Reference in Thai Baht)

Timeline :
  • Preparation, Engineering Design, and Layout Planning : 10 - 12 months (concurrent with other phases)
  • Construction and Server Installation : 24 - 26 months (operational with the pipeline and expansion power plant)

Responsible Parties :
  • Contract and Concession Supervisor : Golden Bridge Investment Holding (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (GBI Holding) as the concessionaire of the Two Oceans Pipeline System and the Ranong-Chumphon Twin Storage Terminal.

Expected Outcomes :
1. The Chumphon center will become the largest "Smart Gateway" in ASEAN, controlling the flow of goods, energy, and digital data between the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
2. Attract substantial revenue and long-term contracts from global big tech companies that want to relocate their AI processing centers to our data center, as it is the only location in Asia that can fully address energy and cooling crises.
3. Create strategic digital value-added opportunities aligned with energy strategies, supporting GBI Holding's growth into a leading infrastructure company globally.
